Richard E. Straughn

Attorney Profile

A Winter Haven native, Richard joined his father, Jack Straughn, in practice after graduating from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He has a strong commitment to community and has served as president on the boards of numerous local non-profits, including the Greater Winter Haven Area Chamber of Commerce, Winter Haven Hospital, Mid-Florida Medical Services Foundation and Polk Community College Foundation. Richard was honored to receive the Winter Haven Banker’s Cup “Man of the Year” award in recognition of his service to the community.

Richard’s practice has been varied and evolving over the years, giving him experience in a variety of areas, including business, real estate, personal injury, criminal law, family law, and general litigation. Currently, his practice is focused on business law, real estate, and commercial litigation.

Mark was born in Winter Haven, Florida and has spent his entire career here. Mark practices in the areas of Real Estate, Estate Planning, Probate and Guardianship, Business Law, and Civil Litigation.

A past president of the Greater Winter Haven Area Chamber of Commerce, Mark has served in leadership roles for Girls, Inc., Main Street Winter Haven, the American Red Cross Polk County Chapter and Habitat for Humanity of East Polk County. He currently serves on the District Board of Trustees of Polk State College and the board of directors of the Humane Society of Polk County.

He is an alumnus of Leadership Winter Haven and Leadership Polk, and was also a member of the Florida Blue Key leadership honorary at the University of Florida. Major representative clients include Adams Homes and State Farm Credit Union.

Douglas A. Lockwood, III

Attorney Profile

Doug Lockwood brings more than 35 years of experience to the firm. The Winter Haven native has primarily handled civil litigation and dispute resolution matters throughout Florida. He is board certified in both civil law and business litigation, an honor held by only two percent of the members of the Florida Bar.

Doug has practiced law in Winter Haven since 1979 and is a specialist in civil trial law and business litigation. A civil mediator certified by the Florida Supreme Court for several years, Doug is an expert in dispute resolution and has served as both a mediator and arbitrator. He has mediated cases and disputes involving many areas, including construction, business, employment, probate and personal injury. Doug served as president of the Auburndale/Lake Alfred/Winter Haven Bar Association and as a master of the Willson Inns of Court.

He has represented many agricultural clients over the years, and authored an article for The Florida Bar Journal titled Administrative Bond Proceedings Against Licensed Citrus Fruit Dealers. Doug was one of the leading attorneys representing citrus nurserymen throughout Florida to successfully recover damages for the destruction of their citrus nurseries during the citrus canker scare of the 1980s.

With a keen interest in educating the community’s youth, Doug’s passionate involvement in the community spans decades. He served as chairman of the Educational Outcomes Steering Committee, formed by the Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce in 2011, and was the principal author of the committee’s report on the state of public education in the Greater Winter Haven area. Doug also founded the Public Education Partnership of Winter Haven. He currently serves on the board of directors of Polk Vision and is chair of the operating board of Polk Vision’s Alignment Polk initiative.

Additionally, he serves on the board of Angels Care Center of Eloise, Inc., as well as The Ridge Art Association. He has donated his time and efforts serving on the boards for Habitat for Humanity, Good Shepherd Hospice, the Winter Haven Planning Board and the Polk County Affordable Housing Task Force. He is a former president of the Greater Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce. He is the recipient of the 2015 Honorable Oliver L. & Mona Green Spirit of Giving Award presented by the Lakeland Bar Association and a member of the board of New Beginnings High School.

Mark W. Mangen

Attorney Profile

Born and raised in Valrico, FL, Mark W. Mangen graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 2012. He continued his education at the University of Florida where he received his Master of Science with a major in Entrepreneurship.

Mark then went on to become a triple gator by attending the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Throughout his time at the Levin College of Law, Mark focused his studies on Estate Planning, business law, and real estate law classes and received the honors of a book award in Fiduciary Administration.

He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida in 2018. All throughout his time at the University of Florida he stayed involved with various leadership positions on campus. In 2013, he became a member of the Florida Blue Key honorary leadership organization.

Mark interned with Straughn and Turner, P.A. in the summer of 2017 and joined Straughn and Turner, P.A. after finishing law school.

Mark is eager to serve the Winter Haven community and looks forward to getting involved with local organizations.
